Our Share Scheme

Giving you part of the company is just one of the ways we like to reward our people

Our share scheme is our way of saying “thank you” for all your hard work! After just one year of service, you'll become eligible to receive up to £3,600 worth of shares every year. Thanks to our continued success over the years, we have always paid out the maximum amount.
You can sell your shares after three years, or keep them for five years and then sell them tax and NI free. In addition, you will receive a dividend on your shares twice a year. Our Share Scheme is very popular within our business, and one of the great benefits of working at Admiral.

Group life assurance

We will pay a lump sum to your chosen beneficiary (or beneficiaries) on your death, which is equal to three times your current basic annual salary. You don’t need to pay towards this benefit, as Admiral pays the whole cost.

City Centre Parking

Our offices in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea have on-site parking (there is a waiting list to have one in your name), but all staff can book one of these parking spaces during the evenings (50p) and weekends (£1) -subject to availability and certain times.

Tickets to Sponsored Events

As we’re such a large organisation, we negotiate early bird ticket access to certain events, and sometimes, at discounted prices. In the past this has included tickets to big name concerts, Welsh rugby games, various pantomimes and shows, Techniquest afterhours and much more.

We also offer a 10% discount on travel and pet insurance, so your furry friends are covered too. We also offer a discounted breakdown scheme (you don’t need to take out our insurance to take advantage of this benefit).

Our Ministry of Health (MOH) run several monthly therapy sessions, some require a payment and others are free. The most common and popular ones are the UWIC stress relief sports massage, reflexology and reiki, to name a few.

Community Chest Funding

Admiral Community Chest is a fund set up by the company to provide financial support to staff and their families directly involved with local charities and organisations. The chest has been running for over 7 years and in that time, we have been able to contribute to over 500 charities and organisations.

Parental Perks


Maternity leave - Staff who have 26 weeks service by the qualifying week receive 16 weeks of full pay, followed by 23 weeks statutory maternity pay.

Paternity leave – Staff who have 26 weeks service by the qualifying week receive 2 weeks full pay, 2 weeks statutory paternity pay and 12 days of unpaid leave (should they wish to take it).

Shared parental leave – Staff who have 26 weeks service by the qualifying week (and fulfill other eligibility criteria) are entitled to share up to 37 weeks of Shared Parental Pay (depending on when maternity leave ends). When both parents work for Admiral, they can share the 16-week full pay benefit.

Adoption Leave – Primary adopters who have 26 weeks service by the qualifying week receive 16 weeks full pay, followed by 23 weeks statutory adoption pay. Secondary adopters will receive the paternity entitlement.

Parental Leave – Staff with one year’s continuous service are entitled to 18 weeks parental leave for each qualifying child. This leave must be taken in blocks of one week, is unpaid and cannot be used after the child’s 18th birthday (unless the child is disabled).

If you decide not to return to work after taking any form of parental leave you do not have to repay any pay you have received.

The support doesn’t stop at parental leave. We recognize that flexible working is another valuable way in which our staff can attain the work-life balance they need, and so employees can request flexible working arrangements.

Please note qualifying week is the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth, as set by the government.

Training and Development

Training and professional development is extremely important to us, as we want each and every staff member to be equipped to do the best possible job. Learning new skills will be a key part of your role and you'll be supported by dedicated trainers as well as your managers.

You'll be able to request on the job training through our very own Admiral Academy and access e-learning courses, allowing you to learn in the way that best suits you.

As an accredited provider of ILM courses, we also give you the chance to earn a nationally recognized qualification.
